The Renewal Project: SE Canton

Habitat is instilling hope in Canton neighborhoods, improving quality of life, providing peace of mind for elderly residents, and stabilizing home environments for families.

Through The Renewal Project: SE Canton, we’re taking a holistic approach to revitalizing three key neighborhoods: Lathrop, Hartford, and Belden.

As we work to build homes, communities, and hope, we’ll need your help. It’s a big challenge but an even bigger opportunity.

Renewal builds stronger homes, stronger families, stronger communities.

During the next four years, Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio will invest $3 million in three SE Canton neighborhoods: Lathrop, Hartford, and Belden.

We’ll bring together all of what makes Habitat so impactful—from new construction to home preservation, home repair to demolition, and even lot beautification. This holistic approach to neighborhood revitalization will bring life and hope back to our SE neighbors.

There is a great need in SE Canton. We’re poised to do the hard work of building, but we need your help to build homes, communities, and hope.

Give a financial gift.

This vital work cannot be done without support from individuals, churches, business, and organizations everywhere.

Lead worksite devotions.

Encourage others as we pause our worksites at 10am to share thoughts, devotions, and prayers.

Volunteer your time.

Volunteers are the heart of Habitat, and we’ll need people like you who are ready to invest their time to build with us.

Pray for The Renewal Project.

Lift up The Renewal Project, project partners, families, and the SE Canton community in prayer.

Provide worksite lunches.

Help keep the builders building by providing food for volunteers who are working on Habitat worksites.

Be a housing advocate.

Learn more about why decent, affordable housing matters now more than ever, and rally others together.

How do families qualify to partner with Habitat for Humanity?

Habitat for Humanity partners with low to moderate income families and individuals who need decent, affordable housing. There are three areas of qualification, but Habitat homes are not free gifts. In the end, Habitat homes are purchased with an affordable 0% interest mortgage.

Families must have a need for housing.

A family must be currently living in sub-standard housing. Habitat works each day to eliminate poverty housing in the local community.

Families must have a steady income.

Habitat homes are not free gifts—they are sold with a 0% interest mortgage. That’s why each family must demonstrate a steady income.*

Families must be willing to partner.

A family must have the willingness and drive to invest Sweat Equity in their home and the homes of other partner families.

*Specific income guidelines will be discussed once a family has submitted an application. Habitat does not discourage anyone from applying for our homeownership program. However, please note that in addition to meeting Habitat’s monthly income and debt requirements, an applicant must not have filed bankruptcy or had property foreclosed on within the past two years. All court fees, fines, time served, community service, etc. must be fully satisfied and any civil judgment or tax lien paid in full and satisfied prior to being accepted into the homeownership program.
